My Recap about the Scrum Framework

Usually, I recapitulate about a specific subject and I check all the new about it, I restudy the main concepts and I think about the advantage of the applications in my current projects. I love this habit, it has proved me its efficacy many times. For the blog purposes, this is great because it gives me an opportunity to share ideas, opinions and the found resources in my studies. This is the case of the Scrum Framework and I would like to share some interesting resources I found recently.

Agile Methodologies are widely used and studied in the software industry especially. Scrum Guide defines Scrum as “A framework within which people can address complex adaptive problems, while productively and creatively delivering products of the highest possible value”. This framework is very useful in many contexts but it is not a magical formula that is suitable for all the circumstances. The aim of this post is not to repeat the theory about the framework that is very well explained in many resources, it is just to mention interesting resources could be studied to get an approach to Scrum.

A good starting point in the scrum learning path could be a video and the following videos are summaries of the main concepts of the framework:

My favorite resource to know about Scrum in a very succinct and effective way is the Scrum Guide, a document developed and sustained by Scrum creators: Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. This document is available in over 30 different languages.

Here, you can listen to the Scrum Guide:

A great web site to learn about Scrum is scrum.org where you can find useful articles, blog posts, and more resources. The YouTube channel of scrum.org also contains a lot of valuable materials. I liked a lot the following videos:

Udemy is a platform where you can find courses about different subjects, many of them are free. As a former professor, I give a lot of value to the effort to put together the knowledge about a subject and teach it in a methodological way. In this sense, MOOCs are great tools to have a quick and convenient approach to complex areas. About Scrum I found interesting the following free courses:

There are certifications as measure marks of the knowledge about the Scrum. There are many institutions that certify the Scrum Roles, one of the most widely recognized certifiers I have read about are Scrum.org, Scrum Alliance and PMI-ACP. Regarding of certifications, I was looking for one to evaluate my knowledge but beside I would like a recognized and recommended certification by the people in the software industry, I had as restrictions that I can take the exam online, it should be affordable by my budget and it does not expire. Then I chose the International Scrum Institute who has free training resources, excellent reviews by the community and great support. After the review of all the mentioned materials, I got the Scrum Team Member Accredited Certification™, Scrum Master Accredited Certification ™, and Scrum Product Owner Accredited Certification ™ from the International Scrum Institute,

I do not close the possibility to take other certifications in this area in the future. As a recommendation to my colleagues who prefer to study and take the exams in Spanish, I suggest checking Asociación Iberoamérica de Scrum. I was positively impressed by the work developed by them in the education of this framework. I found especially useful the articles published by Adonis Ricardo Rosales García and Pedro Nogales on LinkedIn and the videos shared in the Adonis Rosales YouTube Channel.

These are the most relevant resources I checked and help me to refresh all of these concepts and I wanted to share my recap with you. Please, let me know your opinions and your recommendations for other information sources. All your comments are welcome!
